Objective

The objective was a two-part project. First, we were tasked with designing the logo and identity for the End of WWII Anniversary event, honoring the anniversary and the monumental role the San Francisco Bay Area played during the war. Second, we were asked to design a series of (8) 90x90 feet banners to be displayed in the lobby of the San Francisco Memorial and Performing Arts Center that commemorates key events that took place during the Second World War.

Approach

The approach I took for the logo design was to create a logo that represents the event, the war, and San Francisco all in one. I looked to military insignia and symbolism for inspiration. I wanted the logo to have a strong and solid feel to it. We looked to collage and scrapbook compositions for inspiration for the banners, and used "vintage" red, white, blue, and black as our color palette.
